Chrome books are essential for my students' academic success. I have a variety of learners, English as a Second Language, children on IEP's for speech, children on IEP's for learning disabilities and Gifted students. Chrome books would help with differentiating lessons, there are many programs where students can translate their native language to English, which would help my ESL students in all subject areas. Programs on Chrome books will assist my English as a Second Language learners, and my students with speech IEP's in mastering many of the 1st grade standards. They will assist the students in distinguishing long from short vowels in spoken single-syllable words, orally produce single-syllable words by blending phonemes, including consonant blends. Chrome books will aid the children to isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel and final phonemes in spoken single-syllable words. Decoding two syllable words, recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words will also be addressed. There are many other skills that can be developed through computer programs: Reading with sufficient accuracy and fluency to increase comprehension would take place, knowing and applying grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words, and my few Gifted students could benefit immensely as well, research could take place along with accelerated programming.
