With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. Each new book added to our classroom is an opportunity for my students to increase their literacy and, most importantly, it's an opportunity to increase their love for reading.
Having access to books right in the classroom is extremely important. Students need immediate and frequent access to books to encourage reading, as well. Our school library is not very big and some of the books that students want may not be available to them in the school library. My classroom library provides a close venue along with the opportunity for me to share some of my favorite books with my students. They can also share their favorites with their classmates.
