There is a well known poem titled "Cause I ain't got a pencil" in which a student goes through multiple challenges in the morning only to be "fussed at" by a teacher for not having a pencil. The reality is that many students in my classroom and in Baltimore City go through similar challenges daily; only to be confronted by a lack of resources when they arrive at school.
A lack of supplies should never be a roadblock to learning. Yet this is the case in many schools and with many students. It is my goal through this project to ensure that every one of my students is able to come to class with a pencil in hand, supplies ready, in order to receive an excellent education.
