Starting a school garden allows me to provide my students with opportunities for hands-on learning, inquiry, observation, and experimentation season after season. The garden bed and tools: shovels, trowels, hoe, gloves, and seed starter kit will permit my students to start a school garden which will give our school access to fresh organic fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, cantaloupe, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, carrots, and potatoes.
Growing our own fruits and vegetables will allow the modeling of sustainable practices and teach my students skills that can be applicable in the real world while promoting lifelong healthy eating habits.
