We are a college prep high school in Illinois. While my my students are fantastic, highly motivated, and intelligent, we have 87% low income students. Our school lacks technology, and most of my students are technologically illiterate. The students do not have computers at home so they need to see as much as possible during the school day. Without exposure to technology, they will be at a loss when they arrive at college. Showing them high quality films and news footage will be a new experience for the vast majority of my students who do not have many cultural experiences.
