My students love to read and are always challenging each other to read the latest and greatest books!
Keeping current books on the shelf is a constant challenge. The books from the South Carolina Junior Book Award nominations will bring recently published titles into the classroom. Students are eager to read these books so they can cast their own vote for the winner in the Book Award. The students will diligently read at a minimum 3 of the books from this project to be able to participate in discussions and voting. Upon completing this project they will have been exposed to a variety of genres and be able to partake in rich book discussions.
We (the students and I) look forward to receiving these books in order to grow during our independent reading time. The students will get to participate in book clubs where they chat about the books and debate on which one should win the final award!
