My students participate in a communications class and in speech competitions. These events require special equipment. We have made do with old boomboxes and tiny portable speakers, but these items are not beneficial to the students' growth and performances. Judges are telling us they cannot hear us, and that is hurting our scores. We need better equipment to practice and perform on to be successful in our endeavors. Students can work very hard, and perform very well, but if their performance cannot be heard, then all of the time and effort has been wasted, and they give up. They feel they are not good enough, and they stop trying. This equipment will break down that barrier, and help the students build up the confidence that they can be heard, that they can be successful, and that they are not only good enough, but they are also great.
