For many of my students, the city is not a safe or comfortable place. They don't all have a place of their own, and due to personal circumstances they move around a lot. Unfortunately due to challenges and struggles with learning or behavior, school hasn't always been a safe, comfortable place either. We are very lucky to have a bright, clean classroom to learn in, but it is not the most welcoming space.
Please help provide me with the resources I need to make our classroom a warm and comfortable place for my students. Our classroom is made up of white walls and white cinder blocks. We have whiteboards and white floors. It is a cold, harsh space that does not invite learning. I've tried to decorate with my own supplies and funds, but my efforts have just been a drop in the bucket.
For this project I have requested rugs, tapestries, posters and curtains to add warm and color to our classroom. I have also asked for lighting and essential oil supplies to make the room an inviting space where students want to come and learn. I requested clip boards so students can learn and follow along from anywhere in the classroom. I want to be flexible to their needs with the space I create, and a large part of that is our flexible seating. I can't control want goes on for my students outside of school, but in a comfortable space I can help ease their worries and give them a safe place they would want to return to everyday. By donating to this project, you will help me do that!
