A classroom library with books that students are not only interested in but also excited about is paramount to instilling a love of reading. This is especially critical for my intermediate students who have shied away from reading in the past. Too often, my students who struggle with reading avoid it completely, particularly when they do not have access to engaging texts at home or at school. Popular graphic novels open up the opportunity for my students to read books they enjoy and share their experience with their peers. This library will help me to create a community of readers in my classroom and instill the confidence my students need to continue reading long after they leave.
