Being an EC resource and inclusion teacher, I have limited space to serve my students (as the classroom is shared with 2 other teachers). However, my students are full of energy and wiggles and they need movement.
By providing flexible seating options for my students, it would allow my students to move as needed while still providing a nurturing environment to teach and learn. In addition, providing sensory items in my classroom would greatly expand the capabilities for my students with high sensory, emotional and behavioral needs, an area to learn coping and self deescalating strategies. Adding sensory items will assist in forming a safe and calming atmosphere to help students reset when becoming frustrated or overwhelmed.
