Math! Science! Engagement! Engagement is essential to spark learning. My students love math and science and absorb every last detail of what they are learning. In our classroom we work to engage the whole brain. These authentic math and science tools and materials will give my students hands-on experiences to truly understand academic concepts. Fourth graders are learning challenging science and math concepts. Using the wave apparatus will show my students waves they cannot see. They will be "shocked' when they learn how much heat is generated by a plasma ball. Sending two steel spheres crashing into each other will allow my students to literally see the heat energy that is created when they collide. Using place value number cards will facilitate my students being able to see the relationship between place and value. All of these materials will aid in sparking a life long love for math, science and learning!
All of my students are curious mathematicians and scientists and they need the right tools for optimal learning and engagement. Going virtual and playing catch up has been a challenge. Therefore, these items I have chosen for my classroom are so important for my current curriculum. Current budgets have not allowed me to purchase these items and I'm looking forward to using them with all my fourth graders now and in the future.
