The use of picture communication systems is a daily activity in our classroom. Many of our students are non verbal and need the assistance of the pictures to help them express their needs and wants. Through the use of picture symbols, we teach the students how to put together words and sentences so they may be understood by others. This system is vital for their educational success but there are times when ink from inkjet printers can be problematic. Sometimes, the colors do not print correctly or the ink supply gets used quickly and the children are forced to wait for the pictures or the adults in the classroom must go find other places to print. The cost of ink from inkjet printers is costly for the amount of printing that is required for these picture exchange symbols. This is why a color laserjet printer would be more effective in the classroom. Laser printers do not experience the same costly issues as the inkjet printers.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve the children’s communication skills, but you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will have immediate access to the pictures and the adults will not have to worry about running out of ink in the middle of a project.
