The carpet, seats, pillows and cart will help me to create a great additional space for sitting in our classroom. Students require spots other than their desks/chairs to sit, especially during read aloud sessions. The hard, cold floor isn’t always the most comfortable option. I plan to use these items not only in our meeting area, but also to create a little book nook! Here students, 1 or 2 at a time, will be able to sit privately to read independently and comfortably! Third grade is a transitional year in terms of literacy and these kiddos need ample opportunities to explore literature as readers, writers, listeners and speakers in a comfortable carpeted area.
