My literacy students use technology each school day to help improve their reading, comprehension, and writing skills. We only have four working headphones which are used for the three computers and one laptop that we have. We have never had headphones for the i-pads that we use daily. Students were asked to purchase headphones as part of their school supplies, but only a couple were able to do so.
It is very challenging for the students and I to conduct guided reading lessons while the other students are using i-pads without headphones because of the noise level. Often times, students who are working on an i-pad find the noise from other i-pads too distracting for them to focus.
