These materials will make a difference in my students’ learning by engaging them in the learning process through hands-on experiences and providing them with the tools they need to be successful.
The students will meet numerous objectives and make cross-curricular connections while applying core math, reading and writing skills to interesting social studies and science concepts. Students will learn about the natural world and geographic regions through strong visuals and text in the National Geographic book series, while reading books that present the right levels of challenge for their development as fluent readers. The three-dimensional tactile world globe will invite further exploration of the various geographic regions and help the students to develop an appreciation of their unique topographical features. The goal of these lessons is to encourage students to become engaged and motivated learners who are able to make meaningful connections between foundational literacy and math skills and the world they live in.
