My students have energy to burn, and having the wobble stools and seats will give some students what their body needs to stay focused and engaged in their learning.
Second grade students were built to move, and they need a safe outlet for their energy so they can maintain their focus.
Students who are especially active and are working on controlling their bodies and impulses need opportunities to be successful in the classroom environment.
These wobble stools will be used throughout the entire school day for the majority, if not all, of my students. They will be used at students' seats in place of a traditional classroom chair. The purpose of having these stools as a seating option is to enable my students to expel some of that extra energy.
Occupational therapists agree that students who engage their cores, engage their brains! Moving while learning helps students to retain the information and stay engaged. These mild movements will help decrease classroom disruption, enabling all learners to stay focused and engaged, and will potentially impact my students for years to come.
