Scholastic News engages readers through multimedia through informational text. First, each student will receive a magazine. Next, students will read the magazine in collaborative groups, and have engaging discussion about the current topic for that week. Lastly, students will complete a comprehension check for understanding of core standards. They will take their learning to the next level by creating relevant projects and presentations from the foundation they receive through reading about current events.
This reading project will make a difference because Scholastic News brings real world events and information right into each students' hands weekly. Students will identify text features, strengthen their comprehension, and expand their vocabulary while reading about current events. Students will expand their understanding of what is happening in the world.
