Glazed ceramic artwork looks professional and are highly regarded in art competitions at the high school level but also in the elementary school as well.
Motivation to do well with a clay project increases when students can experience every step in finishing the artwork. From how to mold the clay, allowing it to dry, firing in the kiln and then finally using the glaze, students get to experience the whole process.
