My students will utilize the potter's wheel to make functional works of art. Students will design and form bowls, cups, plates and more with the advantage of the wheel. I will challenge advanced students with this rewarding art form.
Wheel throwing is difficult to master, but with this new skill students will gain many opportunities. Wheel thrown pottery will make students more competitive in art exhibitions. Pottery is highly salable. In the future, students can utilize the skills they learn on the wheel to generate personal income. Some of the pieces produced in the classroom will also be sold for fundraising purposes.
