My students simply need some motivation! They are struggling readers who are tasked with passing the 9th Grade English STAAR. This is a daunting task for students who started the year reading on a 3rd grade level. We are currently holding a class competition for an Amazon Fire Tablet. The student with the most "points"in each of my 3 classes will receive one. They get points each day for coming to class on time, attending tutoring, being a "participation superstar," following instructions, and keeping their phones put away. So far, they are diligently stacking up the points. I want to surprise my top students with something truly special, something that they will never forget.
