Student comfort is key. When a student is comfortable they will be calmer, focused and engaged in their learning community.
Allowing each student to have a choice in what they sit on throughout their school day allows them to feel empowered and have some control over their environment. Allowing the students the choice to rock, wobble, bounce or sit stationary will provide for more engaged learning.
“Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength.” Having different seating options will also provide “real-life” learning such as sharing and taking turns or even using the seat at a different table.
