In addition to 5 academic classes, I also have an “advisory” class where students work on homework, projects, vocabulary enrichment, turn in digital job applications, search for necessary resources, and submit assignments. We share a cart of 40 Chromebooks among 10 teachers (and often some more when the other carts are monopolized).
Many of our classrooms do not have a student computer or printer, and because our school has a significant number of students who fall under the “socioeconomically disadvantaged” umbrella, they often scramble to complete their work before going home to no internet or digital devices (aside from a phone). Our library is only open two days a week, and has only the recycled desktop computers from teacher’s last set before we were given replacements (more than 6 years ago). Ideally, I would love to create my own class cart, but starting with 5 seems like a great idea! Help us bring more tech into our classroom!
