Adding today's technology of Chromebooks to the library will allow all 550 of my students to access not just the traditional print book, but the electronic book, a vehicle that is becoming more and more standard for today's teens in reading, particularly for those students who encounter special learning challenges, such as dyslexia, where they need specialized fonts readily available electronically, large print, or audio reading support, features only available through electronic books/devices. These Chromebooks will also enable my students to research, explore and innovate with digital STEM and collaborative projects, putting the vast wealth of knowledge and cutting-edge discoveries around the globe literally at my students' fingertips on a daily basis. These Chromebooks will provide my students with technology that would otherwise not be available to them. Many come from low income households, which greatly limits their exposure to technology. Your donation will open my students' eyes to the world around them. They will be able to learn about other cultures and obtain new perspectives through collaboration with students across the globe. This will broaden their horizons, building a strong base for the challenges that they will face as our future leaders. My goal is to utilize this technology so that my students will gain a deeper understanding of the world around them, opening up new possibilities for the future. Our school, students and staff were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
