Dear Friends & Fairy Godmothers,
My students, who have the biggest hearts, and many significant learning challenges are in need of new tables and chairs. Will you have the heart and the magic wand to make our wish come true? As an exceptional children’s service teacher of students with medical, academic, psychological, and physical needs, my students need the best materials to learn. We are in need of some interactive tables and chairs that are color coded, which assist us follow directions, to find our seats, help with vision impairment issues, and provide comfort that our current desks do not, at this time. We are located in an urban area, in lower south Providence RI, and our students need immense care.
If we were granted our wish for these tables and chairs, so much could be accomplished in our room where students could work together on functional tasks. So many of the skills we take for granted as individuals without significant disabilities, and my students have to work twice as hard to achieve. Wheelchair students are unable to bring chairs or pediatric strollers next to a desk to work, and often can’t be an active part with peers in this high school class.
If our class was able to be granted these tables and chairs, it would provide a stronger social and emotional bond between students who work together in groups.
For every dollar that is donated to this cause, you are making a class of students with many awesome abilities and disabilities come true! Within the walls of Room 61 at JSEC miracles have happened ... students have spoken their first word in 17 years! Students have taken risks to walk new paths, participate more, and find hero’s inside and outside of the class. Please help!
