As a brand new, co-located K-3 school, resources and space are hard to come by. My students do not have access to a complete school library and our classroom libraries are limited. Unfortunately, students that are struggling end up reading the same books over and over because there are only so many available books per level. In addition, because of these limited libraries, students do not have access to rich, engaging literacy experiences that are above their reading level.
TIME For Kids magazine will give my students experiences with real-world, engaging literacy experiences. According to their website, TIME For Kids engages students with authentic journalism, inspires them to join the national discourse on current topics, and provides teachers with valuable resources for the classroom.
