Our First graders are studying the animals and habitats of fresh and salt water marine biomes. Being able to go to the newly renovated aquarium will allow them to get hands on learning. There is a new touch pool that the students will be able to use as well as many other brand new exhibits for them to enjoy.
Giving these First graders the shared experience of visiting the NY Aquarium will enrich their class discussions and provide an exciting jumping off point for deeper research.
Living in the urban environment of NYC often feels very distant from the wild animal world, but we are also lucky to live so close to such enriching experiences as the NY Aquarium. Field trips are always very memorable to young students and many children develop the deepest understanding from real experiences and not just book learning.
They will get a chance to see animals we are learning about it the classroom in real life and choose one animal that they feel inspired to learn more about.
