Having a parent or loved one in the military can be challenging for our students. School can be a safe, consistent place to gain support, get connected to resources, and share your feelings.
Through books, students can relate to characters going through similar experiences and know that they are not alone in their feelings of sadness, anger, and fear. Teachers can use these resources to engage in important conversations with military youth and their families and gain a personal perspective to help aide in supporting a child emotionally during the pre-deployment, deployment, and reunion phases of active duty military service.
