Flexible seating will allow my students to feel confident and in control of their bodies during instruction. Students need the flexibility to be able to stand, sit, and move around during a lesson. By having various seating styles students will be able to attend to task in a more in depth and meaningful way. Creating a well put together calming/sensory area will be helpful when students are identifying their feelings and emotions (using the Zones of Regulation curriculum), as a place to recharge, reflect, and get ready to learn! Once we receive these gifts, students will be taught the expectations for using flexible seating and new sensory items within the classroom.
