Our school has had a rotating cast of music teachers for almost fifteen years, and the program has been reduced dramatically due to the inconsistency in instruction. Now that the kids have had a steady teacher for two years, interest in the band program is building back up. In fact, next year we will have THREE band classes running concurrently for the first time in over ten years! We are excited, but the supplies that we currently have are either old and falling apart or totally broken after years of use.
By funding my project, donors will be giving students the basic needs they require to be successful musicians.
Many of our music stands have fallen apart due to student use and abuse over the years, so I would like to get a new set of six to replace them. Our baritone saxophone players know we are almost out of reeds, so they're trying to use each reed until it is totally broken, which is heartbreaking to see (and hear). And our percussionists need a bell stand so they can properly use their instrument! This project will help upgrade the band and bring supplies to the students that they will use daily.
