Most of my students do not have the means or the places to go to check out books. Most of my students also don't have a love of books because they were never taught you could love them.
Teaching students to love reading gives them the chance to see the whole world from their bedroom.
I want my students to have a variety of books they can use to not only enjoy reading, but to encourage the different types of lives and people in the world. Having different types of books, especially ones with name recognition, allows students to explore what type of genres they may like. It also gives them a chance to contrast how books and movies are so different.
