I want to add more options for flexible seating in my classroom. Currently, I have spaces for children to stand or sit for their activities and project time. However, when they sit, the current option is only a traditional chair.
I would like my students to choose flexible seating beyond the traditional chair, such as wobble stools and wiggle discs so they would be able to fidget and move while doing activities and projects. These seats will allow my students to wobble, bounce, and move as they work. This extra bit of activity will actually help the students focus.
Flexible seating will also give my students the power of choice and comfort, while also allowing the sensory input that may be needed. Each child will be able to choose what is most comfortable for him/her as they work on their projects. These seats will engage their senses and will especially be helpful to those who need a little more sensory input.
