The materials I am requesting for my classroom would make a huge impact on student achievement and behavior. Sitting at the same table and chair all day long is extremely difficult, especially for a young child!
Wobble chairs, cushions, and stability balls give students small amounts of movement while sitting that helps them remained focused. This is especially helpful for students with ADHD or students who just have a little extra energy. Other seating options in my classroom will include the floor seats and traditional chairs that do not offer movement for students who prefer that type of seating.
My goal with this project is to provide a diverse classroom arrangement that meets every student's needs. In addition to helping students get more movement, these materials will require that students self-reflect on what type of seating helps them learn best, making them more self-aware learners.
