Do you have happy memories of yelling any of the following: Sorry! UNO! Connect Four! Battleship!
Board games and card games are a stress-free way to encourage students to speak. While playing interactive games, they can casually speak to me and one another without feeling the usual pressures of a speech and language session. Board and card games also help develop other really important life skills: critical thinking skills, social skills, friendships, and multitasking. By providing my speech students with board games, you are helping them learn to express themselves appropriately in a way that is calm, encouraging, and fun.
