I want to create a build it/make it learning station in my classroom in order to achieve higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills in my students. These activities and resources will also build a love of reading and writing because it is an area that sparks a lot of interest in children.
Children have a natural sense of wonder and enjoy creating and working with their hands. Hands-on learning is the best way for them to learn and remember what they have learned. It also teaches them to think and problem solve which leads to better self-esteem. They learned that it is okay to get it wrong and to try something different.
These materials will be used in learning stations that will have students working together to build and create, use collaborative skills, and develop social skill that are so important to them growing into healthy adults that appreciates others ideas and differences.
