First grade is such a pivotal year for students and their reading. With these new books, my kids will be able to continue building their love for reading by being able to choose books that interest them and they can relate to. Providing my class with books that are diverse and multicultural will give them opportunities to connect with stories and characters that reflect their own personal identities and experiences. Creating a culturally responsive classroom library will also help them build an understanding of differences and create an acceptance of others as well. I want THEIR library to be a place that they can escape into a good book and imagine themselves being a part of the amazing stories they are reading.

About my class
