I want to have a writing center in my first grade classroom. Currently, students sit at their tables to work on writing. These are shared spaces that have many different activities going on in them.
A writing center would have a special place for all materials that students would need to create amazing stories. It would be a place where they could focus their thoughts and ideas, set apart from the rest of the busy classroom activity.
Students would visit the writing center 3-4 times a week. During this time, they would brainstorm, jot down ideas, work on the craft of writing, and illustrate their stories.
