Some of my students need fidgeting items to be able to stay calm and focus in class. During story time and whole group instruction is where they need to keep their focus the most. My students get so excited when I pass out our classroom “squeeshies” (Gel-Bead Sensory Shapes) during our whole group instruction. When I get the basket where I keep the squeeshies, they sit on the rug silently and just wait for me to give them one so they can hold on their hands. The fidget items help them stay calm and be better listeners. The need of more fidget items is important to have in my classroom.
