Having life skills task bins will help my students learn in both a visual and tactile way. COVID has made it difficult for my students to retain what they have learned during distance learning. Teaching with tangible items can make all the difference for my students. These bins will help my students learn valuable life skills such as; dressing skills like tying, lacing, and buttoning, what to wear depending on the weather, choosing healthy food, how to shop from a grocery list, how to count money, tell time, and how to recognize and display their emotions. These areas will be addressed using methods like sorting and matching. Students will be able to work in groups to develop social skills and on their own to develop responsibility and independence.
