Many of my students are visual and kinesthetic learners. They need hands-on manipulatives to see how to compose and decompose numbers. The place value boards and will allow each student to build numbers and show the value of each of the digits in the number rather than just watching the teacher demonstrate. These will also be used in teaching students how to read and write numbers up to the millions place.
The Osmo is a tool that can be attached to an iPad to make math games even more interactive than just pushing a button on the screen. This tool encourages visual thinking with Geometry, problem-solving, and creative drawing skills.
The Math Stacks set is a group of games that allows students to observe the flexibility of math to see several ways that fractions, numbers, and shapes can be classified and named. This game-like manipulative will increase student engagement which will lead to a deeper understanding of multiple math concepts.
