Our 4- and 5-year-old students are adapting as best as they can to virtual learning. They join their classmates from home (or from daycare or a caregiver's house) for short stints of storytime, math games, singing, and dancing. Our district has had virtual learning since March and through at least January to keep students, teachers, and families healthy.
Our youngest students learn best with real books in hand! Kids learn to love books when reading favorites over and over again, together with people they love. We've picked these books because they offer fun stories with relatable characters, and help kids develop social-emotional learning. By providing books to every student at home, we're helping ensure equitable access to learning and building self-confidence, emotional awareness, and foundational literacy skills even in a pandemic.
