Students with autism have different sensory needs or impairments. My students tend to be fidgety and usually have a hard time seating for more than 15 minutes for small or whole group instructions. They also require intermittent breaks during independent tasks to help relieve them of stress and to reduce problem behaviors.
The sensory seats that am requesting will enable them seat longer and will enhance their focus skills during instructions, while the sensory toys will relieve them of stress during breaks. These sensory toys will keep them calm throughout the remainder of the instructional period, thereby reducing the incidents of problem behaviors.
