Utilizing a whiteboard table in our small group setting will be very beneficial to all of my students as they rotate through the station. It will have the greatest impact for students in math. As they come to the station, they can sit where they work, have their materials, and demonstrate the methods and techniques that I need to asses them on, all in one contained area. The markers with varying colors, allow me to see who is able to do this successfully and who needs more attention. With this ability to provide instant feedback, it allows students to complete more reps to build understanding and confidence in their problem solving abilities. All it takes is a quick swipe with their eraser and they can redo a problem or move on to the next. The fact that it is done during small groups, the 4 or 5 students can collaborate and share what they know and can do also. The benefits for students during our reading small groups can't be underscored either. Students can use it to demonstrate understanding of target skills and strategies for a variety of activities, such as summarizing text, labeling and classifying different aspects of the text. All done in a manner that allows instant assessment and feedback. If you donate to this project, you can have a direct impact on their overall academic achievement. You will be assisting students as they learn and gain knowledge in multiple areas of different subjects. They will be able to come to a small group station and do work, collaborate, and demonstrate their knowledge in a manner that is easy for all to see.
