What better way to teach about the intricacies of life than having an ecosystem in a classroom!? Our classroom aquarium will provide a great opportunity to teach ecology, as well as responsibility and maintenance.
An aquarium is an intricate ecosystem that students can use as a focus for ecological concepts like the requirements for life, symbiotic relationships, and more! The plants (and eventually animals) will provide an easy entry point for understanding the food chain and energy transfer in ecosystems. We will also be able to use the LED light to adjust the color and intensity of the light being provided to the plants, so we can experiment with their specific needs.
The maintenance of the tank will also be a great learning experience for students. The students can help keep the aquarium clear of algae, assist in changing the water on a regular basis, and use a water testing kit to measure the necessary chemicals in the water.
