I do so much at the beginning of the year to launch my fifth graders into being engaged with character, plot, rising action, turning point, etc. I have requested a class set of the book by Katherine Applegate, Home of the Brave, to help me launch our narrative unit before my students break into interpretation book clubs. This book will introduce my students to the character as a young African boy struggling to find his way in the United States after all of the strife in Sudan. Please help donate to this project so I can provide copies of this book to enrich my fifth graders! Thank you! Thank you! Hope!
