Our Diagnostic Kindergarten program is designed to service students who are Kindergarten ready based on their age, however, are not developmentally ready for school. Many have speech and language difficulties, fine and gross motor delays, and typically are immature and not ready for the demand of a traditional all day Kindergarten.
We have a diverse population in a low socioeconomic area, where 75% of the students are receiving free or reduced price lunch. Our students come from a variety of environments where quite often the student is from a single parent, financially stressed home. Our students have limited access to updated technology if they are even exposed at all to computers and iPads.
My students are full of energy and have so much potential. They need constant support, attention and direction. Diagnostic Kindergarten students come to my classroom with a variety of academic and physical needs and having an iPad would help support developmental learning to meet those needs
