As teachers, we need to be innovative with our tools and methods. We need to prepare our students for the future using the appropriate tools. In a technology driven world in which education is perceived as less fun, it is important to engage and prepare students with the right tools.
Now that I serve students from k-6 and work with different teachers, I see the need for using technology in tier 2 interventions in reading and writing. We need iPads to work on technology driven educational programs that target language arts skills in a more interactive way.
With the addition of iPads in intervention, my students will practice sight word games, timed reading, phonics and other skill as needed. The iPad will be used during reading intervention with applications and games that teach and strengthen academic concepts. The iPad will be used for academic activities as well as games that reinforce language arts skills and vocabulary. The possibilities are endless because students are more engaged in their education when technology is used. Student engagement leads to higher academic gains.
