I want my room to feel like a happy place for my students. They can tell from my room that I care about them and love teaching. My room is very colorful - especially for a high school classroom. I have several areas to display student work because I value showing that I'm proud of them. I keep supplies at the front of my room for students to use because I never want their lack of pencils, paper, or art supplies to keep them from being successful. There's a large calendar that displays events important to them and their birthdays. I try very hard to make my classes a community unto themselves where they feel safe sharing, growing, and collaborating with others.
