This project will enable students to use modern rock band instruments to study the great rock music of the past, learn chord progressions, and then create their own compositions. We have begun the process - some students have purchased a ukulele or guitar so they can practice at home what we are learning in class. A few students are discovering hidden talents they didn't know they have. The instruments for this request will allow every student in my class to rotate and learn how to play their chosen instrument. They are very excited to play in a modern band!
Actually playing an instrument is the catalyst for creating student compositions. They will learn song form, chord patterns, and work collaboratively with their friends to form a modern band. Our goal is to create songs and perform for each other by learning on modern rock instruments.
