This flexible seating project provides students with several options. First, the flex chair bands allow students the option of fidgeting hands-free when they are working at their desks or sitting in chairs around the classroom. I love that these provide the opportunity for students to fidget without taking away the student's ability to productively write, etc. I personally purchased several of these to try with my students last year ,and they were a success.
Second, the area rug provides students with a comfortable spot to collaborate. It gives students the option to work with one another in a new space around the classroom. My students last year asked me about a carpet several times. I would love to start the upcoming school year with a special carpet for my new students. Lastly, I think the carpet helps to provide a warm, welcoming classroom environment.
