As we start the school year in a virtual learning setting, I have seen students get distracted due to background noise at home. These distractions may prevent them from hearing directions during a live session. I have also seen students and parents get discouraged when they are not heard properly. Headphones with microphones significantly lower background noise and allows me and other students to hear each other more clearly. Our school provides students with Chromebooks, however, the mouse pad is difficult to use for students who are still developing their fine motor skills. A computer mouse allows for an easy transition and could help prevent my students from feeling discouraged or overwhelmed with new technology.
